The Green Monster: A Yummy Homemade Baby Food

When my daughter was first starting out on baby food, we decided to make her food rather than purchasing jars from the store. Even though you can buy organic jarred food, we preferred to buy the fresh ingredients and make it ourselves, so we knew exactly what was going into it and when/how it was prepared.

Upon the advice of some friends and relatives, I started with avocado as the first actual "food" my daughter tried. Needless to say she was NOT a fan (she literally gagged while eating it). Luckily, when the time came around that I could start mixing all of the foods she'd already tried, I found a great recipe for the "Green Monster" which mixes avocado with some fruit...she loved it!

So for all of you mamas that make your own baby food, here's a great and easy recipe. It has a sweet taste from the fruit, and a nice creamy texture from the avocado (plus your little one will get all the avocado nutrients, even if they don't like avocado by itself):

The Green Monster
2 ripe kiwis
1 ripe avocado
1/2 cup cubed peach

Simply peel and slice the kiwi (you can leave the seeds in if you want), peel and pit the avocado and cube up some peach. Throw it all in a blender and blend until smooth. Great texture and a really yummy taste!

  10. This history was all new to me in the mid year of 2011. I went to the nearby ranchers showcase and purchased a chunk of what was called Mark Bittmans No Knead Bread. I adore high quality breads, with the hard outsides and a lot of chewiness within. I knew of Mark Bittman, and I was interested. toastmaster bread machine
